I have been told by the event organizers that at first it will feel like the Jet will not move so none of us give up and just PULL when she tells us too.

8. We have all agreed who is the face of courage tomorrow so she will be OUR face of courage and lead our team tomorrow by being first in line.

9. Jodie is our official photographer and she has been give VIP access to the tarmac tomorrow. Stay tuned tomorrow for her Top Gun inspired photo ideas. The organizers said what team comes with their own paparazzi?? Um, the We Tri Like Girlz do!!!

12. On a funny note, Wicked Good Cookies called me EARLY this morning with a cookiecatastrophy and he was devasted BUT all is well with the Flight Snack Pack! LOL. I told him, dont mess with our snacks Peter! But, Peter saved the idea with an even more amazing idea so, everything does happen for a reason.

...this upcoming weekend most of the girlz are doing various races apart from the team - full marathon in CT, half marathon in NYC , duothon in MA and 5k's in MA. This is our second to last event for our 2010 and to be honest - is bittersweet.

Not that our team will not continue giving forward next year. It's just that there was something about this year and this year's team that will remain as something life changing for each of the team members that will never be repeated.

...we are stronger, we are better and we are ready...for whatever.

Warrior Dash for a true warrior...

In September 2010 some of the girlz will be participating in an extreme race called the Warrior Dash. However, it is one of the team members that has shown with great strength and grace the definition of a warrior. She has been fighting, and is winning, a battle with cancer.

When she approached one of the girlz and said she would love nothing more than to be part of something that she never in a million years thought she could do, it was an honor to say yes we would be right along side of her. We have this saying that friends never let friends cross the finish line alone. The best part will be seeing her cross the finish line before any of us.

About the other Girlz on our JetPull Team - We Pull For Brenda

Thier dad survived lung cancer but lost a valiant battle against esophageal cancer which had metastasized to his bones. Imagine being told in January that you are cancer free and passing away two months later full of a very aggressive form of bone cancer. The suffering is tremendous, such that no human being should have to endure.

Two years later in 2009, they learned that thier mother had breast cancer and in February, 2010, we received the shock of a lifetime. Thier sister, daughter, wife, mother, and aunt had brain cancer.

As with many the diagnosis came out of nowhere with no symptoms. Once again, thier lives are filled with fear and sadness as we band together in the hope for a cure.

Cancer has not only affected our family, it is everywhere!

Not a day goes by that you don’t read or hear about some poor soul struggling to survive this horrific disease. Not a day goes by that you don’t see the pain and agony on the face of a family member who is fighting along side them.

We all feel so helpless when it comes to fighting cancer.

No matter how hard you fight, in the end you walk away defeated. They won’t be defeated this time around.

As Brenda is so bravely battling this monster, they, her sisters, nieces, daughter, and sister-in-law are going to battle right along side her. We are going to PULL FOR BRENDA, literally, and Brenda is joining us.

On October 23, 2010, Brenda, Julie, Jennifer, Vicki, and Karen, along with their daughters, Kaitlin, Holly, Lindsay, Alicia, and Amanda are teaming with We Tri Like Girlz Triathlon team to pull a Fed-X jet across the runway at TFGreen Airport. Yes, that’s right, a group of all women will lace up their sneakers and pull a Fed-X jet across the runway.

They are asking for you to pull along side of us, as we try to make a difference in the fight against cancer, by making a tax deductible donation to the Tara Bean Foundation.

When a loved one is affected by cancer,it can be very difficult to stand by and watch them fight, wanting to help but not knowing how.

Nancy was not able to join the Just Normal Girlz Triathlon team warm up (that is what we like to call Chicago Girlz Weekend) because of the super active hurricane season and oil spill in the Gulf. She is busy flying jets into the storms, gathering weather data and the analyzing that data to help with the clean up efforts.

Just Normal Girlz are a mom, a professional and a pilot but at the end of the day we just normal girlz and amazing friends.

Our season finalle will be the most memorable yet though - as 20 girlz (no boys allowed) will be pulling a full size FedEx Jet across an airport runway. Stay tuned for more information on that.

This past weekend Q got to spend a low key weekend with her Just Normal Girlz team member in the mid west. We always call this weekend our Triathlon Warm Up Weekend as Q will be heading back to the midwest in a few weeks for her last triathlon of 2010.

Is it a koinindink this family has attended every Tara Bean Foundation Gala AND it was Tara's uncle who was part of thier most sweet and amazing little girl first moments in the neonatal ICU?

We love how VIV (Rapids Master) was cracking up as we hit those Class IV rapids.

We learned that if your feet are ankle deep in the bottom of the raft
and you paddle through the rapid...you won't pop out into the water.

We were proud that our raft was pop-out free.

What the Girlz Are Going to Do To Prepare For Upcoming Ocean and Open Water Swims?

They will go a Wooo'ah and Woo'in Down a River!

All us girlz are starting to get a little frustrated, tired, and stressed out with back to back races on thier doorstep. Sooo to let off some steam and get prepared to block out the challenges of ocean (things bite in the ocean) and open water (and icky things crawl in lakes) swims they are going to jump into thier wetsuits and first tackle some Class IV rapids - as a team!

After all, after this smooth waters should be easy to swim in...right?

The girlz will be exploring the Deerfield River's most exciting sections through some advanced whitewater but also going to enjoy the beauty of the northern Berkshires. At the end the day will hang out at BBQ at the basecamp and await the slideshow of our adventure (with hopefully none of us popping out of the boat into the water.)

While it was only 35 degress with 30 mph wind gusts, the Girlz got it done and each completed all three events despite many participants dropping out and/or not completing because of the cold. We joked a few days after that we didn't defrost until later that night.

We stayed in the truck until our wave was ready to go.
Was a little warmer.

The Girlz have started thier 2010 Season in full force. Starting in April they have a major event each month until the end of the year. Some months, they have two races.

Sadly, due to innapropriate use of others by this blog we will be waiting until the end of the season to post when and were our events are and all the amazing photo's and stories from our 2010 season.

Crazy to think that there are people out there like that but there are. Best part is our Fashion Consultant, Sira (who is the one responsbile for getting us all hooked on Red Stripes and Gabrielle's) will be meeting us.

Plus, our trainers won't be able to see us all the way in Rhode Island if we opt for a few last chance workout snackin after shopping.

On Saturday, March 6th the Girlz had thier 2010 Season Kick Off Dinner. While many aspects of the evening were typical of the girlz get togethers:

Last night had very tender, humbling, sad, happy and inspring moments that can never be replicated with words.

However, The best part of the evening was our guests of honor Tara's mom Karen and her Aunt, Liz.

We made them cut the red velvet H3 We Tri Like Girlz 2010 Cake Oh, and we are most excited that Karen and Liz are now official team members to help us Pull a Jet later this year.

The Girlz Have Added Yet Another Event to the 2010 Schedule

Y'all! I came across the scariest coolest event that is a must do for my calendar in 2010. Yeah, I know, I have a lot of "must dos" and more often than not lately I manage to not do them BUT this one is so different, you have to try it, right?

It is the warrior dash. Basically a 5k with 13 obstacles added in for good measure. No ordinary obstacles. Think fire jumping, leap frogging across platforms on a lake, scurrying through a muddy pit under barbed wire, climbing cargo nets, weaving through submerged logs, rappeling. That sort of thing. Why would I think of doing such a thing? As any self respecting lady would, I am all about the gift with purchase. Not only do you get a medal, you get a "warrior helmet".

I am not 100% certain how one trains for such a thing. This is the official training regimen as listed on their site. Not exactly the Hal Higdon method I am used to but you have to love it.

How do I train for Warrior Dash?

1. Day one: run as far as you can. Go home. Day two: do the same thing.

2. Find the dirtiest pond in your neighborhood and snorkel in it - in your slippers, without goggles.

3. Practice your climbing and crawling skills at your local jungle gym. Ignore the small children and parental glares.

4. Do not shower or shave for weeks in order to obtain a true Warrior look.

February's Double Duty Training

Since January was crazy for everyone, the Girlz were not able to get together for any off season"training. " Partly because everyone is trying to re-find thier groove with training and are completely pooped out. The first month getting back into triathlon training is, well just not easy.

We need to make up for missing January so have decided to pull double duty training in February with a "Ped Party" at Anne's. And then everyone will pile into Q's H3 and head to the very fab boutique's, Gabrielle's and Diva's Place in Providence - with lunch at Red Stripe of course. Thanks Sira for letting us know about these very fun places to shop and yummie lunch spot.
